I’ll be honest I really did not know anything about Amy Schumer, apart from her staring in ‘Trainwreck’. However, I was very drawn to reading her novel ‘The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo’.
Schumers’ novel is very witty (which I guess is expected) and you get to know her on a much deeper level. She is all about women empowerment without being a feminist and try’s very hard in her book to make you believe that it is okay to say you love yourself.
As women we do intend to be very judgmental on ourselves no matter how we look or how hard we work.
I did not know what to expect when I first bought this book, and when I read the title of the first chapter, ‘An open letter to my vagina’, I knew I was in for a ride.
She writes like she is speaking to you, constantly getting side tracked with a thought or another story that is not even relevant to the story she was initially telling. We are invited into her struggles with getting a break into comedy, as well as the struggles (and joys) she has faced throughout her life.
Amy Schumers book is definitely one I would recommend to read at the end of a long day. She will make you laugh and make you feel loved.
I am now a converted Amy Schumer fan.
Let me know what you thought of Amy Schumers novel?
